New motor vehicle sales, Total Vehicles - Short Term

• Trend - The November 2007 estimate for new motor vehicle sales (89 182) increased 0.6% when compared with the October 2007 estimate. The trend estimate has been increasing for over 15 consecutive months. When compared to November 2006, the trend estimate increased by 8.1%.
• Seasonally adjusted - The November 2007 estimate for total sales of new motor vehicles (89 906) increased by 1.1% compared with October 2007.

• Trend - Sports utility vehicles and other vehicles both increased by 1.8% when comparing November 2007 to October 2007. Passenger vehicles decreased 0.3% for the same period. All vehicle types have recorded increases when compared to the same period 12 months ago. Sports utility vehicles and other vehicles rose 22.0% and 18.8% respectively. Passenger vehicles rose slightly (0.8%).
• Seasonally Adjusted - When comparing November 2007 to October 2007, other vehicles and passenger vehicles increased by 3.9% and 1.4% respectively, while sports utility vehicles decreased by 2.6%.

• Trend - When comparing November 2007 to October 2007, all states and territories except for Western Australia showed increases in the trend estimate of total sales of new motor vehicles. The largest increases were Tasmania 1.3%, South Australia 1.1% and Queensland 1.0%. The Australian Capital Territory increased the least with 0.2% and Western Australia remained steady.
• Seasonally adjusted - When comparing November 2007 to October 2007, five states and territories showed increases in total sales. The largest increase was in Tasmania with an increase of 6.8%, followed by Queensland with 2.9%. Total sales decreased in the Australian Capital Territory (2.1%), Northern Territory (1.3%) and Western Australia (0.8%).
